Migration 20: Is Wilson Williams right about the significance of the slave trade for Liverpool?

This enquiry fulfills the specification point ‘Liverpool in the nineteenth century: its role in migration’, focusing on the relationship between Liverpool’s prosperity and the slave trade.

Students practise applying significance criteria to judge the significance of the slave trade for Liverpool, before they make ‘pendulum judgements’ about aspects of the topic.

Finally, students are supported in responding to a 12-mark exam question, which tests their new knowledge from the enquiry.

Interestingly, Penny Lane was named after slave trader, James Penny.
