Why did people join the Nazi Party?

Nazi logoCan your kids predict how a leader of a new Party might gain more members then work out from the Nazi 25 point plan who they were really appealing to? But deep down were they Nationalist or Socialist?

First you ask your students to think how they would they try to gain more members if they became the new leader of a Political Party?

Having established that the Nazis were a ‘Nationalist’ and a ‘Socialist’ Party your students work out from the early Nazi 25 point plan who the Nazis were trying to appeal to.

When it seems that the answer was, ‘all voters’, you ask the kids whether the Nazis were really ‘nationalist’ or ‘socialist’? Revealing a secret memo from Hitler shows them his true political leanings.
