Migration 15: What was the impact of Huguenot migration in the 17th century?

This enquiry focuses on the impact of Huguenot migrants during the early modern period.

It gives your students the chance to plan a ‘museum exhibition’ commemorating Huguenot contributions to English life.

Students learn about the ways in which the Huguenots impacted on the physical environment of Spitalfields; on religious and cultural life in England; and on the economic state of the country (through their investment in the Bank of England).

Then, they apply their new knowledge to write detailed captions for the museum exhibition. Finally students are tested with a ‘working glossary’ activity, which helps to consolidate their understanding of some of the key words connected to the topic.
