History Resource Cupboard – lessons and resources for schools

History Resource Cupboard - lessons and resources for schools

1. Introduction Task: What impact did migrant groups have on the development of early Britain?

This activity serves to introduce the ‘big story’ of the unit.

You could use it in the first lesson of the unit, to help give students an overview of this unit on early migration.

Or, it would be a great homework activity: students could be tasked with reading the ‘story’ independently, and then answering the comprehension tasks at the end.

Help introduce students to early migrants to Britain, and to the big groups of people they will meet in this unit including the Celts, the Picts, The Romans, the Gaels, The Angles and the Vikings.

This task also introduces your students to how these differing groups impacted on life in Britain.
