Why did less people criticise the Nazis in pubs and bars after 1933?

This enquiry focuses on Nazi terror and propaganda control methods by getting the class to think in a different way.  Taking the Bavarian town, Augsburg, why did the number of people arrested for criticising the Nazis in bars fall so quickly after 1933? Can your class explain this?

The students will  go on to investigate 7 different methods of control, in an active way, then classify these methods into ‘propaganda’ and ‘terror’.

Next they take their thinking higher by linking the methods to see how they combined together to stop drunken anti-Nazi talk and help control the people in Germany.
