History Resource Cupboard - lessons and resources for schools

What can we learn about the Cold War through movies?

The aim of this one-off lesson is for students to be introduced to some of the key themes of the Cold War by examining some of the great movies made during that period of History. From “Them!” and “The Blob” to “War Games” and “Rocky IV”, the Cold War produced some memorable cinema.

In this lesson we use these movies as a doorway to a study of the Cold War. What themes does each trailer show? How?

The lesson can be used with either Key Stage 3 or 4 students.
