How will interpretations be assessed at GCSE in 2018?

Teaching historical interpretations at GCSE in 2016 will be more important than before. There is no getting away from this. As we stated in our last post, this has got be a good thing. After we really should be teaching students how history is constructed.  The 4th Assessment Objective for GCSE history states students must:

 

With every silver lining there has to be a cloud! 

Here is the problem, assessing interpretations at GCSE is difficult and the exam boards seem to be going in different directions for 2016 GCSEs. The question I have is can interpretations be assessed in an old school style exam?  Be very careful  before choosing your 2016 GCSE course. Their are differences between each boards approach!
