History Resource Cupboard – lessons and resources for schools

Kids, Cash & Catholics: How would you have coped in the role of Henry VIII?

This simulation makes use of a decision making activity to give students an introduction to the reign of King Henry VIII. It requires them to grapple with many of the issues faced by the King.

It is best run as a team-based activity. It can be used as a competitive, kinaesthetic introduction to the topic of the Break with Rome.

It serves to deepen students’ appreciation of the motives of Henry and combats the all too common problem of students seeing him as a cartoon character who simply spent his time be-heading a string of wives.
